Desktop search

On my Mandriva laptop I have a panel icon marked 'Desktop Search'.  It doesn't 
exist on my Fedora box.  In systemsettings > Advanced > Nepomuk it tells me 
that strigi is not running.  Is this the problem?  I'd really like to see 
this working on the Fedora box, but can't find any clues as to what call is 
needed.
