Interesting.
Konqueror usually uses the default Java runtime, i.e. the first "java" 
executable in $PATH.
This can be changed of course (Konqueror settings), so your distributor might 
have changed it to some obscure version of Java, or put such a version into a 
path where it is found earlier than a "good" one.
