Yes, if kded dies, so does the wallet as it uses kded.  I have noticed 
increasing instability in kded recently which I suspect is caused by kat, as 
removing kat has improved the stability.  If you do get kded crashing, you 
can simply restart it from a commandline by typing 'kded &' (just from your 
user, not as root).
