Mac OS-style menubar: strange behavior

Replying to myself: my problem might be related to this bug:

I'm using Kubuntu as well. It seems that I have to wait for 3.5.2. Any ETA for 
it :)? There are now at least two patches in 3.5.2 that I'm waiting 
eagerly :)
