Kmail filters

I see a similar problem with kmail in KDE 3.5. The "Apply this filter to 
incoming messages" is selected.

In my case the mail is on an imap server that is populated using fetchmail and 
procmail independently of kmail. The "from all but online IMAP accounts" is 
*not* selected, so it should be applying the filter to incoming mail in the 
imap account. I wonder if it isn't working because kmail is not populating 
the imap server, it just appears as new unread email from outside of kmail?
