building a panel applet

hi all:

Just tried to build a kde panel applet.
i am use www.developer.kde.org/documentation/tutorials/dot/panel-applets.htm
as a example.

but the problem is when i was running ./configure script, it said "kdb2html
not found",
i have search google, did not found any solutions.

my OS is gentoo linux, and running kde3.4, kdelibs are installed under
/usr/kde/3.4.

i have read that panel tutorial, and i thought it is for kde2.
is that because the tutorial is too old?
if so where can i find development doc for kde panel applet for kde 3.4?
