Newbie question: KDE Log Out process

Hi guys, sorry to bug you, but I want to know:

 1. What program / script is being run when the user clicks on the Log Out button? I need to include it in a script of mine, and cannot find anything about it in the KDE documentation.

 2. Once KDE starts logging out, does it run a some sort of "shutdown" process? In particular, can I add a bash script to this process, per user? (I want to automate the users' backup procedure)

Thanks for your help, and keep up the good work! KDE rocks!
