That would be KDE's spell checker at work.

Red words are words that the spell checker has decided are misspelled,
of course, you should be seeing this behaviour with most of the other
KDE applications as well, not just kgpg editor.

You can configure the spell checker in the Settings->KDE
Components->Spell Checker dialog.
