end KDE session and go back to login shell

Hi all,
I normally start KDE (3.5.0 on FreeBSD 6.0) by using the command line 
from my login shell. Apparently there is no easy possibility to get back 
to that command line by ending your session using "end session" from the 
K menu. There you can only shutdown or restart , but 
getting-back-to-the-command-line won't go. Any solutions?
