Downgrading KDE

I don't know the dirty details of exactly how it is done, but Gentoo slots 
builds of kde, so 3.5 and 3.4x can be run on teh same machine, and we use 
basically the same ~/home. I look into teh ebuilds might shed some light for 
you?
