Looks fine in ThunderBird.

The message is plain text so it must be a font issue.

Content-Type: text/plain;
   charset="iso-8859-15

That is standard European/Western encoding with the Euro symbol.

The only idea I can come up with is that he is using an old font that 
doesn't have Euro support and Qt looked and found something strange.
