Konqueror Java Worries

I've take the past 30 mintues to get Konqueror java enabled on my system. My 
java plugin files reisde in /etc/alternatives; now, poiting konqueror to that 
dir to search for plugins (settings --> configure konq --> plugins) didn't 
work.

I acutally had to point konq to /etc/alternatives/java via (settings --> 
configure konq --> Java & Java Script) Applets now work. Does this mean that 
konq is using java to render applets! (java, as in java java, not the 
plugin).
