KDE Menu Apps and Control Center Missing!

Try setting the following environment variables before starting KDE
(in .xinitrc if you're using startx, or ~/.kde/env if you're using KDM -
see the FAQ for details on how to use ~/.kde/env [Q10.10]).

export XDG_DATA_DIRS=$KDEDIR/share:/usr/local/share:/usr/share
export XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=$KDEDIR/etc/xdg
