Settings problem

I have been having a lot of problems with KDE that I think are derived from my 
KDE settings.  So, I remove all my ".kde*" directories, and start over. The 
very first thing I've changed, is the "Titlebar double-click".  I changed it 
to "Maximize (veritcal)" however, all of my windows still act like "Shade" is 
set.

Any ideas?
