Thats a FAQ item.
The problem is that the .desktop entry of the application is missing the %u
parameter, so the command you associated with text/html in KDE's control
center is missing it as well.
Without %u KDE has no idea that the application is able to handle remote URLs
itself, so it plays save and creates a local temporary copy.
Add %u to the command for text/html and check if the .desktop file installed
by firefox is really missing it, which would either be a bug of the packager
or the developers.
