keyboard issue: "windows"-key doesn't work as modifier anymore

I enter "shortcuts" in kcontrol, then press the assign button and for example
punch in ctrl+win+left.

now the following happens:

ctrl gets depressed, and the dialog displays "ctrl+" , as supposed to.
win gets depressed, and the dialog displays "ctrl+win+" , as supposed to, too.

now i finally press left cursor or whatever else, and the "win+" vanishes!

I must add I recently upgraded to Xorg R6.7, and on their irc channel I was
told other KDE users noticed this behaviour, too, but not Gnome users.
KDE bug or Xorg?
