$KDDIR is /opt/kde, and it's *not* listed in fc-cache - what can I do about
that?

Thanks for the info. Since this is quite a hack, I'll do it as soon as I find
time.

I talked to Trolltech and their very own words were "sorry, no bitmap fonts
anymore"
