Changing icons of "special" buttons

How can I change the icon of "special buttons" in the kicker, like the "Show 
Desktop" and the "Settings" buttons?

I know that I can replace the icons in 
<KDEINSTALL>/share/icons/crystalsvg/<size>/desktop.png and settings.png, 
however, if I change those, then the desktop and settings icons in other 
places of my KDE are changed as well (like in the splash screens, the KMenu, 
and the File selector dialog)

I know this is a nit-picky thing to want, but I still want it!  :)  I'd like 
to change just the icons on my kicker for these special buttons.

How can I do that?
