Mouse only operations in KMail

In KMail, is it possible to select multiple email messages without using a keyboard?

In Windows, clicking and dragging usually displays a marquee that can be used to select
multiple messages. In KMail, clicking and dragging  activates a drag and drop which is forbidden, 
because you can't drop a message onto another message.
