I just had a short look at the source and it seems like that the font is set 
to KGlobalSettings.generalFont() [1] on creation of the dockwidget [2] and 
only changed in size afterwards.

Hence, the answer: At this point, the font colour can only be changed by 
changing the colour of the general font in the Control Center. You could, 
however, add a wish at bugs.kde.org.
