kdesktop - how to increase number of possible virtual desktops ?

Edit ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc
go to the group that starts with "[Desktops]"
change the "Number=" entry to the desired number and restart KDE.

I don't know if their is a limit at all but at least 20 works just fine here.
