Getting stuck while alt-tabbing

I've been getting this a lot since my last update.  However, at least for me, 
there is an easier way out of it than killing KDE.  All I have to do is press 
"Enter" and the currently selected task in the change tasks box will be 
brought forward.

It's still annoying, but not as catastrophic as what you describe.
