Getting stuck while alt-tabbing

It just happened again. I'm starting to get slightly annoyed at this. 
This time I lost roughly three pages worth of commentary I was writing 
on a webpage. I was using the gimp and tried to alt tab back into 
firefox (which was two steps away). Released alt-tab. Got stuck. Shit.
