Brian S. Stephan pointed me at the KDE Control Module for Javascript, where I 
set the Javascript Web Popup Policy to "Deny."  I've had no problems since.

My thanks to all who responded; I saved all suggestions for future reference.  
I'm sure they will come in handy.
