how to rename Desktop directory?

Dear All:

I have installed SuSe 9.2 with KDE 3.2 on my computer and
found that KDE generates a "Desktop" directory in my home
directory.  This name conflicts with another file I need
there.  What environment variable I have to set to give
KDE's "Desktop" a different name?

I have spent some time searching the docs in vain.
All help is greatly appreciated.

My use of KDE may depend on my ability to rename "Desktop" .
