Konqueror does not show dialog for Java applet

I have set the path to /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_04/jre/bin/java
When I type "java -version" in a shell it is working properly.
All other Java programs work fine, like Mozilla, Opera, Eclipse and numerous
others, except Konqueror.
Any ideas are welcome.
