kde and aspell

Hallo,
I use kde-3.3.1 under slackware-10, the problem is that I can not change the 
aspell dictionary in "kontrollcenter".
I have installed both aspell + aspell-de, but can not switch to the german 
language.
So is there a fix to get it working? Maybe a config file which I could change 
by hand??
