Using jack with kde

Dear friends,

I would like to start jack instead of arts, and then send the output of arts 
to jack eventually if needed.

If arts cannot connect to jack, then we would exclude artsd and have jack 
running and events connecting to jack.

The reason? We need to use rosegarden under kde.

Is anybody out there doing that? I have not been able to make it work.

Mandrake 10.1 CE, kde 3.2.3
