menu freezes on system entry

Hi all
I switched to KDE a few weeks ago (so I'm new to KDE ;)) and have the following problem:
Everytime I move with the mouse over the "System" entry in the KDE menu,
kicker starts to fill up my memory and swap space and terminates where as
the residual system remains running. All other menu entries behave as 
expected. The problem appears only at the "System" entry. 
I use KDE 3.2.3 on a Debian Sarge system.
Is this a Debian problem (due to Sarge) or a KDE problem?
