Empty menues

Hi everybody,

I wonder why the menues in my KDE desktop are virtually empty - they don't
show anything like konqueror or kmail or something, even though the programs
are there & accessible. KDE is 3.2.1 self compiled, living in /kde with
KDEDIR set and path / ld.so.config tuned.

Also, control center is only an "empty shell".


Help most appreciated.
