Desktop sharing problem

When I try to connect to a KDE session, KDE 3.1.1, Red Hat Fedora, using desktop sharing and VNC, all I get is a black screen on the vnc viewer. If I enable mouse and keyboard control I can move the mouse and open menus, launch programs etc, but cannot see anything. How do I correct this.
