KDE performance problems with 3.2.x (not a flame)

The bug (Bug 74130: kded causes XFree86 high cpu usage) is referenced here:

Unfortunately, my system has that patch already and it still has a problem 
very similar to it.  Although killing kded doesn't do anything for my box.

Any other suggestions?
