Main KDE menu extremely wide

This a bug.  I am told that it is caused by Qt-3.3.0.  However, it also 
depends on the font which you use.

I am using KDE-3.2.1+ (the Branch), Qt-3.3.1 and Arial MT (the font which 
comes with the current version of Adobe Acrobat for Windows) and it works 
fine.  It also works fine with other fonts.

I would specifically advise against using a bit mapped font with KDE
