Were you using Mozilla or Mozilla Firebird? The latter is a definite
improvement over the former, especially on older hardware. Right now I'm
split between FB and Konqueror since each has its advantages over the other.

You've probably set the file type text/html to open in a separate viewer
rather than embedded. Set it back to embedded. Known bug:
