KPilot to Handspring via USB

Hi!

I've loaded KPilot and tried to get it to hotsync with my Handspring Visor via
the USB cradle without success.

I did a bit of Googling but all of the advice left me with too many unknowns
and combinations of parameters to solve the problem. E.g., KPilot needs to
have /dev/pilot symlinked to the USB. I shot in the dark with "ln -s
/dev/ttyUSB0 /dev/pilot" and then "chmod 666 /dev/ttyUSB0" because of bits on
info I picked up from my searches. But I don't really know that that is what
is needed. And the setup for KPilot gives three choices for the USB: USB-old,
USB-devfs, and USB-m505. I found no clue on which of these I should use.
Further I don't really know if I'm even shooting in the right direction.

My system is a Compaq Presario 4880; and my distro is SuSE 8.0 with KPilot
4.3.3.

Help will be much appreciated.

TIA!

Mike Green
