Well - welcome to KDE/kmail/kdepim !
You just have to use not one application, but several (kmail, korganizer,
kaddressbook, knotes, ...). So no need to "turn off".
If you want to have all those components togerther in one app, then you
have to wait until KDE 3.2, or have a look at www.kontact.org
Only the summary-part is missing...
