In general KDE_3_1_BRANCH should be more stable since it contains all 
the bug fixes which where made since this branch was tagged as 
KDE_3_1_0_RELEASE. OTOH there's always the chance that a commit breaks 
the compilation of KDE_3_1_BRANCH. But this is usually fixed within 
minutes or at most a few hours.

So I recommend using KDE_3_1_BRANCH.
