kde 3.0.5a - problem at startup

Hi,

I was running red hat 7.2 with kde 2.0. Recently I upgraded XFree88 to 
3.2, qt and kde 3.0.5a. First when I tried to login there was a gray 
screen which never changed. I found some instructions on the web site 
that tells to delete some temp files. I did that. Now when I login, it 
never finishes starting services. Has anybody run into the same problem? 
Any ideas on how to fix it?
