Nothing in Kmenu and KControl (kde 3.2 beta 2)

I looked into $KDEDIR/etc/xdg/menus/, I have no default_*.menu
files in it.

I tried to create a symbolic link named
"default_kde-settings.menu" that link to "kde-settings.menu"
(?) but that didn't change anything, unfortunately.
