KDE3 does not start when using KDM from KDE3

Your install of KDM is screwed.

The most likely problem is that you are not using the "Xsession" script.

Do you have "Session=" set correctly in: "kdmrc", it should be in the: "[X-*-Core]" 
section.  If you don't have this set, it will just start an Xterm.
