Problems with cups and smb

I m using al self compiled KDE311a.
My problems:
1)
No smb-support when using konqueror and no option to select an smb-printer 
when configuring a new printer using the kdeprint assistant.
2)
Printing via cups to a lokal printer at lp0 works finde but printing to the 
same printer (device ist connected to another PC that works as cups-sever) 
fails. It seems as if no documents are reaching the sever. (entry in 
error_log of cups)
