kde 3.1.1 font size not constant

I sometimes see the opposite (smaller fonts occasionally). This happens
because I incorrectly let X start up before I turn my monitor on.

Since the monitor is off, X can't read the monitors dpi values from it
and assumes a different default. In my case this results in smaller
fonts, but you could imagine the opposite happening.
