Equivalent of Sawfish "Run shell command" in KDE?

I'm using kde-3.0.0.

I followed the instructions of others (starting with 'kmenuedit'), but
still couldn't get the key-mapping to work.

What finally did it was to run the 'khotkeys' command at a prompt.

Don't know why, but from then on it (and others) worked.
