Konquerer freezes when network not connected

I find that Konquerer freezes when the network connection is lost or wasn't
established. Once that happens, re-establishing the network connection
doesn't unfreeze Konquerer and it can't be killed with the "X" button.

Is there a way to make Konquerer insensitive to the state of the network
connection? Otherwise, it is pretty useless as a file system browser on
a laptop.

Thanks and regards
