Well, KMail tries to automatically determine the identity which should 
be used for the reply based on the email address the message you want 
to reply to was sent to.

Of course KMail shouldn't do this if an identity has been associated 
with the folder which contains the to-be-replied-to message. Instead it 
should always use the folder-identity in this case.

It seems you have found a bug. I will try to reproduce and fix the bug.
