New compose-mail from anywhere

Is there a way to rig an Icon or a menu-item off root (i.e the 
desktop) to open a blank E-Mail Composer window in KDE 3?

A quick link to open a blank Composer window would be a really nice 
feature to start a mail message w/o hunting for the K-Mail window. 
From Konqueror, there are two items that under Location will do the 
trick: "Send Link" and "Send File". But you have to erase some things 
first to start clean.
