KDE not releasing visited directories?

Good day,

KDE seems to not let go of the directories I have visited.

Is this intentionally?
If so, why?

It gives me problems.
When I use Konq to view a CD, then navigate konq to view an other 
directory not on the CD, then I can not unmount the CD and get it out 
of the CD drive until I close Konq.
The same with kate, kedit and kwrite, so it seems to be kind of a 
global "feature".
