Noatun MP3 playback on RH8

As you know, RH8 removed support for MP3's due to possible patent issues. I 
found the page on RH's site saying that playback could be restored by info 
found at xmms.org and mpg123.org.  I upgraded both of these packages and also 
upgraded to KDE 3.04.

I staill can not get noatun to open/play mp3 files.  XMMS can.  Noatun does 
not even list mp3 as a file type that I can add to my playlist or open, much 
less actually getting to the playback part.

Any ideas?  Did I miss something?
