kdm background and options problem

Hi

I have some configure problems with kdm.
I can't see the wallpaper, only this X background. It is configured with 
kcontrol.

Do I need to configure xdm ?

Also I can't switch to console. I only can restart X.

KDE 3.0.5 (CVS HEAD >= 20020412)
