kmail problem

Hi , I have an old PC work with RH 7.1 Linux with KDE 2.1.1

I have a POP3 account that require a password for incoming and outgoing
mail.

When I receive email it's work find. but when sending kmail show an error
message about says that the TO < email address >
is not exist...and errors code.. ( unknown host mail.kde.org when I send to
kde-devel at mail.kde.org  for example ).

the problem is that my SMTP server  require a user name and password , but
KMAIL don't have any option to enable
SMTP authentication.

any one know how ?
